Dr. Herbert Lee, Pharm.D.
President, MedComm Solutions
Dr. Herbert Lee has more than 30 years of clinical and managerial experience spanning the pharmaceutical and hospital industries. As President of MedComm Solutions, he provides leadership in strategic planning, analysis, development, implementation, and measurement of all aspects of product and medical information services on behalf of clients.
Herb established MedComm with fellow Pharm.D. colleagues Sherman Gong and Alan True in 1998. Their aim was to provide outsource call center services to help fulfill the unmet needs of evolving biotech companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since then, the company has rapidly expanded its services to encompass biotech, pharmaceutical and medical device companies throughout the United States.
Herb has extensive drug information call center experience, including startup of medical information departments for biotech companies converting from a research-based focus to commercialization. His biopharmaceutical experience includes working at Chiron Corporation, Alza Pharmaceuticals, Roche Laboratories, Syntex Laboratories, XOMA Corporation and Cetus Corporation. He also has extensive hospital-based pharmacy experience in department administration and in providing clinical pharmacy services in the areas of oncology, infectious diseases and intensive care medicine.
Herb earned his Pharm.D. degree from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and an MBA from San Francisco State University (SFSU). He completed an administrative pharmacy residency at the University of Chicago Hospitals and Clinics, an accredited program by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). He is a licensed pharmacist and a member of the Drug Information Association (DIA), the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) and the Society of Quality Assurance (SQA).
Personally speaking – What was the most exciting life event you’ve experienced?
“Performing CPR by myself on a stranger I saw collapse on the street. Another exciting event was participating in my first Code Blue while working as an intern. I’m happy to say the patients survived in both cases.”
